About the Role

Elecnor is seeking a Lead SCADA Engineer / SCADA Manager to take ownership of the strategic leadership, design, delivery, and compliance of our SCADA, IT, and cybersecurity systems. In this key technical leadership role, you will oversee automation infrastructure across our portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy and grid-connection projects.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead, mentor, and resource a team of SCADA engineers across a portfolio of renewable energy projects.
- Oversee the SCADA, IT, and cybersecurity basis of design, control logic, and network architectures.
- Manage interface points between plant SCADA, OEM equipment, AEMO market dispatch, and NSPs (TNSPs/DNSPs).
- Review and approve technical documentation, signal lists, HMI designs, and control algorithms.
- Prepare RFPs, evaluate suppliers, and support contract negotiations for SCADA, CCTV, and IT sub-systems.
- Track subcontractor progress, manage delivery schedules, and approve payment claims.
- Drive FAT, SAT, and E2E signal testing in coordination with site teams, AEMO, and network providers.
- Support Grid Connection teams through R1 registration, hold point testing, and R2 validation (FCAS, V/f control).
- Act as the senior escalation point for critical troubleshooting to minimise downtime and generation loss.
- Enforce Safety in Design, govern quality via ITPs/ITCs, and ensure HSE compliance across all project phases.
- Provide high-level progress, risk, and milestone reporting to executive leadership and key stakeholders.




- Oversee the final handover of operational manuals, as-builts, and documentation to the O&M; team.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Electronics, Automation & Control, IT, or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience (8+ years) in SCADA, automation, and control systems design, commissioning, and management within utility-scale renewable energy projects (Solar, Wind, BESS).
- Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and specialist subconsultants/contractors.
- In-depth experience with leading SCADA software platforms (e.g., Siemens WinCC, Wonderware, Ignition, Ovation) and PLC/RTU environments.
- Proven knowledge of network design, industrial communications architecture, and cybersecurity frameworks relevant to critical infrastructure.
- Experience with power system integration, AEMO registration/compliance processes, and TNSP interface requirements in the National Electricity Market (NEM).
- Experience with cybersecurity systems and its management, preferably with the Australian Energy Sector Cyber Security Framework (AESCSF)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification will be highly regarded.
