About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Level 2/3 Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer to join a growing technology team based in Newcastle. This is a hands-on technical role supporting a modern Microsoft environment spanning Microsoft 365, Azure, networking, servers, and end-user technologies.
You'll act as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues while contributing to the ongoing improvement, security, and performance of the organisation's infrastructure and cloud platforms.
This position is primarily based onsite in The Junction, Newcastle, supporting users and critical business systems. Occasional travel to additional sites may be required, with kilometre reimbursement provided where applicable.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support across infrastructure, cloud, and end-user technologies.
- Manage and support Microsoft 365 services including:
- Exchange Online
- Teams
- SharePoint Online
- Intune
- Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Support and administer Azure environments.
- Monitor and troubleshoot Azure networking, VPNs, virtual networks, and connectivity issues.
- Maintain and support Windows Server environments.
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and core infrastructure services.
- Perform infrastructure upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical incidents.
- Support endpoint management and security initiatives.
- Work closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver technology improvements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Participate in infrastructure and cloud projects as required.
Technical Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong experience in a Level 2/3 Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer, or similar role.
- Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
- Hands-on Azure administration experience.
- Experience supporting Azure networking components including:
- Virtual Networks
- VPN Gateways
- Network Security Groups
- Connectivity troubleshooting
- Solid Windows Server administration experience.
- Active Directory and Group Policy management.
- Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and user issues.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Desirable
- Microsoft certifications (Azure, M365, Security or Infrastructure).
- Experience with Intune and endpoint management.
- Experience with cyber security best practices.
- Exposure to virtualisation technologies.
- Backup and disaster recovery experience.
