Maitland Indoor Sports Centre is the region’s only four-court indoor sports venue, located at 37 Hinkler Avenue, Rutherford, on the corner of Shipley Drive. The Centre hosts a wide range of sports and recreational activities, including casual and regular court hires, birthday party packages, school holiday programs, and team-building events for corporate groups, schools, and social gatherings. It also offers bowling machine hires to support cricket training and skill development. On weekends, the facility transforms into Inflatable World Maitland, creating a lively, family-friendly setting for children and caregivers. The Centre focuses on providing safe, inclusive, and enjoyable experiences for the local community.
This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing role suited to someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys working with people of all ages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing excellent customer service to all customers
- Answering phone calls and responding to email and phone enquiries
- Serving customers at the front desk
- Preparing hot food and coffees (training provided)
- Cleaning and maintaining a tidy, safe environment
- Setting up and packing down sporting equipment and nets (training provided)
- Completing general admin tasks as required
Hours:
The position offers approximately 15–35 hours per week, depending on the successful candidate's availability and suitability for additional shifts.
Availability:
Wednesdays: 8:30am – 3:30pm (essential)
Thursdays: 9:00am – 6:00pm (essential)
Additional ongoing hours may be available for the right candidate, including:
- Tuesdays: between the hours of 11:00am – 9:30pm
- Mon.. actually Monday? The correct entry is 'Mondays:
9:00am – 5:00pm during school holidays'
- Fridays: 7:00am – 4:30pm during school holidays
- Weekends: Availability may be required depending on the successful candidate's availability and suitability for additional hours
The Wednesday and Thursday availability is essential for this position. Additional weekday, weeknights and weekend hours may be offered depending on business requirements and the successful candidate's availability and suitability.
Essential Requirements:
- Current Working With Children Check
- First Aid Certificate
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer literacy for handling enquiries, bookings, and administrative tasks; familiarity with social media or promotions is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a small team, as well as independently during busy periods.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in sport, recreation, leisure management, or a related field are desirable; current first aid certification and a Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain) are beneficial.
