Tax and Business Advisory role

Morris Forensic is a boutique accounting practice specialising in forensic accounting and taxation/business advisory.

We provide a broad range of services, many of which are project based. They include:

- Taxation compliance and advice for SMEs and high net wealth individuals and family groups
- Business, management, risk and governance consultancy
- Business and intellectual property valuations
- Financial investigations, including fraud, maladministration and wage theft
- Assessments of loss for commercial disputes and business interruption claims
- Expert witness work in state and federal courts and tribunals

The Prospect

We are looking for a high performing individual to join our small, but highly regarded and dedicated team. We envisage the role to primarily relate to our tax and advisory practice but that there will be continual opportunities to assist on projects across all service lines.

Your duties will be dependent on your experience; however, we expect that they would include:

Tax and Advisory

- Preparation of financial statements, tax reconciliations and tax returns for companies, trusts and family groups
- Assisting with strategic and tax planning for clients to help them maintain grow and sustain wealth
- Assisting in solving client’s financial challenges and to analyse commercial opportunities
- Researching taxation issues
- Being a regular point of contact for your clients

Forensic Accounting

- Analysis of financial, non-financial, tax and accounting data relating to businesses, individuals, industries and the broader economy




- Preparation and integration of financial models and other analyses
- Undertaking research and analysis of comparable companies/transactions and industries for business valuations and loss assessments
- Reviewing and critiquing the work of other professionals
- Assisting with fraud, wage theft and compliance investigations
- Drafting advice for clients and reports for Court
- Reconstruction of financial statements and other records based on primary documents and/or banking records

What we’d like you to have

- You will have at least 3-5 years’ experience in a professional services firm and are looking for your next challenge. You will have strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills as well as high attention to detail and time management.
- Professional experience in an accounting or taxation environment
- Problem solving and critical thinking abilities
- Proficiency in common accounting and tax softwares (eg. Xero, MYOB)
- High IT literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong and effective communication
- Report writing ability

Remuneration

Morris Forensic will pay you a competitive salary, commensurate with your skills and experience.
