Management Accountant

Location: Parramatta, NSW

Employment type: Temporary full time for 9 months with a possibility of extension

Grade: 7/8

Salary: $116,981 - $129,492 pa plus employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role The Management Accountant provides high-quality financial management, analysis and advice to support effective financial planning, resource allocation and decision-making across the organisation.

The role is responsible for coordinating budgeting and forecasting processes, undertaking financial analysis, monitoring financial performance and providing insightful management reporting and advice to senior managers. The role works collaboratively with business areas to strengthen financial management capability, identify financial risks and opportunities, and support the achievement of organisational objectives.

What you’ll do

As part of the Finance team, you will:

- Coordinate and contribute to the preparation of annual budgets, periodic forecasts and financial plans.
- Prepare accurate and insightful management reports, financial analysis and commentary to support management decision-making and monitor financial performance against budget, forecast and strategic objectives.
- Provide timely financial advice and business partnering support to managers, assisting them to understand their financial position, manage resources effectively and achieve budgetary objectives.
- Undertake detailed analysis of revenue, expenditure, staffing and other financial information, including investigating significant variances and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
- Monitor divisional financial performance and work with Director’s to develop and implement strategies to address budget variances and emerging financial pressures.
- Contribute to month-end and year-end financial management activities, including ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of month-end accruals, reviewing financial results,



preparing variance analysis and supporting the resolution of financial issues.
- Ensure NSW Treasury Prime submissions (eg. Parameter Technical Adjustment’s, New Policy Proposal’s and Carry Forwards) are prepared and submitted in accordance with NSW Treasury timeframes.

Work collaboratively in a supportive 6-person team with hybrid working options.

What we’re looking for

We’re after a finance professional who makes an impact. You have:

- Degree Qualification in Accounting, Commerce or similar discipline and studying towards CPA/CA (or equivalent) full member status, or extensive equivalent experience
- Experience preparing budgets in government or large organisations.
- Sharp analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Organisation and time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
- Public sector experience is a plus.
