Australia is increasingly affected by climate change, creating a growing need for climate analysis and forecasting services to support community safety and resilience.

To meet this need, the Community Services Group (CSG) delivers customer-focused, integrated and resilient operational services across Australia. CSG comprises Environmental Prediction Services (EPS), Decision Support Services (DSS) and National Production Services (NPS), enabling the delivery of a wide range of products and services that provide significant value to the Australian community.

The Manager Climate Environmental Prediction Services sits within the Community Services Group. The successful candidate will have a unique prospect to lead the bureau's climate service capability and provide critical direction to a team of climate experts as part of the bureau's national operation.

The Manager Climate Environmental Prediction Services will lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver consistent high-quality climate related environmental prediction products and support the bureau's decision support services to deliver tailored advice to decision makers and customers in Industry, Government, Emergency Management and the Australian Community. They will drive innovation and scientific excellence to deliver impact-based services and put customers and their needs at the centre of bureau operations.

The Manager Climate Environmental Prediction Services will lead the team responsible for the delivery of national climate services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:





- Strategic leadership and management of three Climate teams ensuring seamless and coherent connections between teams, across CSG and the wider bureau.
- Confidently leading geographically distributed staff, to ensure effective resource management, workforce planning, and management of staff development, wellbeing and performance.
- Support the General Manager EPS in Program level strategy and management including change management.
- Accountability for the delivery, quality assurance, performance reporting and monitoring of all the climate services and associated product lifecycle management.
- Responsible for ensuring we meet Commonwealth, State and Territory obligations, including the Australian Climate Service and the Water Act.
- Leading customer-driven Climate and Water related projects, managing to time, scope and budget, with acute attention to managing risk and stakeholder and customer relationships.
- Performing as a bureau spokesperson during pre-season or high-end weather events or as otherwise required including appearing at Senate Estimates.
- Resilience to excel in high pressure, complex and dynamic operating environments, supporting the bureau, our customers and partners during significant weather events outside the scope of standard working hours.
