About the role

As an experienced Manual Machinist, you'll be responsible for producing quality components to precise specifications using conventional machining equipment. You'll be working with experienced manufacturing professionals to produce components that form part of high-performance pumping equipment used by customers across Australia and internationally.

Key responsibilities

- Operating Centre Lathes, Universal Mills, Surface Grinders, Column Drills and Bench Drills
- Machining components to finished dimensions from raw materials using engineering drawings
- Working to both metric and imperial dimensions, fits and tolerances
- Machining a range of materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, ductile iron, aluminium, bronze and engineered plastics
- Selecting and using the appropriate cutting tools for the job
- Inspecting and measuring tools and equipment for wear, damage and defects
- Repairing, servicing and lubricating tools and equipment
- Fitting and assembling metal parts, tools and sub-assemblies
- Maintaining accurate toolroom inventory records
- Ordering and following up on replacement tooling
- Labelling and organising tools, equipment and inventory
- Maintaining a protected, tidy and efficient Toolroom using 5S principles

About you

- A recognised Mechanical / Fitting & Machining trade qualification




- Minimum 3 years' experience in manual machining
- Strong experience operating conventional lathes and milling machines
- Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience working to tight tolerances and quality specifications
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- A strong commitment to workplace safety
- A positive attitude and ability to work effectively within a team
