About the role

Lead the engineering function at an established Brisbane commercial HVAC contractor. Own mechanical design across projects, from tender concepts through to for-construction design. Design and value-engineer at tender time to help win the right jobs.

Take design responsibility as RPEQ across D&C; projects. Select and prove equipment (DX/VRV, ventilation, kitchen exhaust) against project and compliance requirements. Build and lead your own drafting and engineering support team producing coordinated, buildable shop drawings.

Get on site and work with PMs and install teams so what's designed is what gets built. Mentor the engineers brought on as the team grows.

Key responsibilities

- Own mechanical design across projects, from tender concepts through to for-construction design

- Mentor engineers as the team grows

About you

- RPEQ registered (mechanical), or experienced enough to get there quickly
- Solid mechanical building services experience with a contractor or consultancy




- Strong in multi-residential and commercial fitout work
- Commercial kitchen ventilation experience (AS 1668.2, kitchen exhaust, makeup air) is a real plus
- Confident with heat loads, duct and pipe sizing and equipment selection
- Proficient with CAD/Revit, Camel or similar software
- Across the NCC and Australian Standards as they apply to mechanical services
- Keen to build and lead something, not just hold a title
