About the role A Motor Mechanic at Goodyear Autocare & Tyres Croydon is responsible for diagnosing vehicle faults, carrying out repairs, and performing routine servicing. The role ensures vehicles are secure, reliable, and operating efficiently.

Key responsibilities

- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment
- Perform repairs and maintenance on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering, and other vehicle components
- Carry out routine servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, inspections, and replacement of worn parts
- Perform tyre fitting, balancing, wheel alignments, tyre rotations, and puncture repairs
- Ensure all vehicles meet safety standards through thorough inspections and roadworthy checks
- Supervise and mentor junior mechanics, providing technical guidance and training
- Allocate tasks and manage workshop workflow to ensure efficiency and minimize vehicle downtime
- Oversee quality control, ensuring all repairs and services meet company and industry standards
- Maintain accurate service records, job documentation, and parts inventory usage
- Liaise with clients to provide expert advice on repairs, servicing schedules, and preventative maintenance

About you





- Relevant qualification in automotive mechanics (e.g., Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent)
- At least two years of experience as a motor mechanic, preferably in a workshop or fleet servicing environment
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex mechanical issues
- Proficiency in using modern diagnostic tools and equipment
- Solid knowledge of vehicle systems including engines, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems
- Experience with tyre fitting, balancing, and general tyre services (preferred)
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Good time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and minimize downtime
- Valid driver's license (manual preferred)
