The Program Coordinator provides national coordination, scheduling governance, and workforce mobilisation functions across National Observing Operations (NOO). The role is responsible for ensuring operational resources, capabilities, logistics, and schedules are aligned to support maintenance, capital works, project delivery, and strategic initiatives across the Bureau's observing networks.

The Program Coordinator role will establish and maintain a nationally consistent scheduling and resource planning framework across NOO, ensuring alignment between Program of Service obligations, maintenance activities, capital programs, deployment projects, workforce availability, operational priorities and stakeholder requirements.

The position will provide national oversight of the workforce utilization and field deployment planning, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through coordinated travel, shared logistics, multi-network maintenance activities and strategic resource allocation.

Over the next 3-4 years, a primary focus of the role will be supporting the Bureau's AWS Replacement Program, coordinating the rollout of replacement equipment to more than 700 sites across Australia, Antarctica and offshore territories. The position will serve as the key interface between project delivery teams and operational maintenance centres to ensure workforce readiness, scheduling integration, logistics coordination, training preparedness and successful operational transition.

National Program Coordination and Scheduling:

- Lead national operational scheduling coordination across NOO Observing Operations Hubs
- Maintain a consolidated national view of workforce capacity, capability, utilisation and program delivery requirements
- Coordinate prioritization of operational activities, project deployments and Program of Service obligations




- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through integrated scheduling, logistics and workforce optimisation
- Develop and maintain national reporting on program delivery, workforce utilisation, schedule performance and operational risks
- Provide strategic advice to the Manager National Observing Operations regarding resource allocation and emerging operational constraints
- Lead workforce mobilisation planning with Scheduling Leads, ensuring national capability requirements, recruitment, training, authorisations and deployment schedules are aligned to operational and program objectives.
- Proactively engage with operational and program stakeholders to identify, implement and monitor opportunities to improve national maintenance scheduling, workforce utilisation and operational delivery outcomes.

AWS Rollout (3-4 year highlight):

- The Bureau is undertaking one of the largest Observing network modernisation programs in its history through the replacement of more than 700 Automatic Weather Stations nationally. Over the next 3-4 years, the Program Coordinator will play a leading role in coordinating operational readiness, workforce mobilisation, training delivery, logistics planning, scheduling integration and transition-to-operations activities associated with this program.

Mandatory qualifications

- A degree or diploma of an Australian educational institution, or a comparable overseas qualification, which is appropriate to the duties; OR
- Other comparable qualifications, which are appropriate to the duties OR
- Relevant experience and training, which enables the employee to competently perform the duties at this level.

Successful applicants will be required to:

- Hold a Current Australian Drivers Licence
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance from the Australian Government Vetting Agency (AGSVA)
