NDT Manager – Australian Operations
We are seeking an experienced NDT Manager with a strong technical background and proven leadership capability to take a key role in establishing and leading our Australian operations.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced NDT professional to be at the forefront of building a business — developing a high-performing team, establishing a strong safety and quality culture, developing client relationships and helping shape the future direction of the Australian operation.
You won't be stepping into an established operation with someone else's systems and processes. You'll have the opportunity to build, lead and influence the business from the beginning, backed by the resources, expertise and support of an established organisation.
The Opportunity
Our Australian facility is purpose-built to support high-quality NDT and asset integrity services. The facility is fully equipped with forklifts, overhead cranes, a darkroom, storage and the NDT equipment required to commence operations immediately.
You'll also have the support of an established administration and accounts team, allowing you to concentrate on the areas where your experience and leadership will have the greatest impact — technical excellence, people, clients and business growth.
As NDT Manager, you will have genuine autonomy and responsibility for establishing and developing the Australian operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish, manage and continuously improve NDT operations in accordance with AS/NZS, ASME, ISO and other relevant industry standards
- Provide strong technical leadership across all NDT activities
- Ensure radiation compliance in line with local regulations
- Build, lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team of NDT technicians as the business grows
- Plan and manage projects, shutdowns and client work to ensure delivery on time, safely and within budget
- Develop and maintain robust, long-term client relationships
- Drive business development and identify opportunities to expand the Australian operation
- Lead and maintain NATA accreditation, quality systems and associated compliance requirements such as ISO17025
- Develop and implement operational procedures, systems and processes as the business evolves
- Ensure all work is performed to the highest standards of safety, quality and technical integrity
- Represent the business professionally with clients, employees, contractors and industry stakeholders
What You'll Bring We are looking for an experienced NDT professional who combines strong technical capability with genuine leadership and commercial awareness.
Ideally, you will have:
- ISO9712 Level II or Level III certification across multiple NDT methods
- A strong background in NDT
- A track record of leading NDT teams. Including shutdowns, projects and field operations
- Strong knowledge of relevant Australian and international standards, including AS/NZS, ASME, ISO and other commonly used standards
- Experience working within, developing or maintaining NATA-accredited quality systems
- A demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and technical excellence
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to build trusted relationships with clients and develop new business opportunities
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving
- Most importantly, a genuine desire to build and grow a business and develop people
This is much more than a traditional NDT management position.
You'll have the opportunity to help build the Australian business from the ground up, with the autonomy to make decisions, establish systems and processes, develop your team and play a significant role in shaping the company's future.
You'll receive
- A senior leadership position with genuine autonomy and responsibility
- A competitive salary package corresponding with your experience
- The opportunity to establish and shape a new Australian operation
- A fully equipped, accredited facility
- Established administration and accounts support
- The opportunity to build and mentor your own technical team
- Direct involvement in developing client relationships and growing the business
- Career progression and increasing responsibility as the Australian operation expands
- The backing and resources of an established industrial group
- The opportunity to leave a genuine legacy through the team, culture and business you help build
We are a well-established and highly regarded name in asset integrity and non-destructive testing, with a credible history of integrity and technical expertise in New Zealand. Now establishing a presence in Australia, the business is backed by an Australian industrial group with long history and combines the local capability with international experience and expertise.
Their reputation has been built on technical excellence, quality, safety and doing the right thing for their clients — values that will form the foundation of the Australian operation.
If you're an experienced NDT professional who is ready to take the next step beyond simply managing an operation — and want the opportunity to build a team, establish a culture and help shape a business — we'd like to hear from you.
This is an opportunity to put your experience, leadership and technical knowledge at the centre of something new and ambitious.
