Summary Our client is seeking to add an experienced Chef to the kitchen team at Showground Eatery, a welcoming and contemporary dining venue in Castle Hill. The restaurant offers a diverse menu influenced by Italian, Middle Eastern and modern café cuisine, with a strong focus on fresh ingredients, consistent quality, appealing presentation and providing customers with an enjoyable dining experience.
Typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Plan and organise the preparation and cooking of meals across the restaurant menu.
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards.
- Monitor food quality throughout preparation, cooking and final presentation before service.
- Assist with menu planning and development of seasonal and contemporary dishes.
- Estimate food requirements and assist with controlling food and labour costs.
- Order ingredients and food supplies to maintain appropriate kitchen stock levels.
- Check the freshness, quality and suitability of ingredients before preparation and service.
- Coordinate food preparation activities to support efficient service during busy dining periods.
- Discuss food preparation and service requirements with management and front-of-house staff.
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance on food preparation procedures to kitchen staff.
- Maintain consistent portion sizes, presentation standards and quality across all prepared dishes.
- Ensure food safety, hygiene and sanitation requirements are followed throughout kitchen operations.
- Maintain clean, organised and safe kitchen work areas, equipment and food storage facilities.
- Assist with training and supervising kitchen staff in preparation, cooking and hygiene procedures.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- Minimum 12 months’ relevant experience working as a Chef in a busy commercial restaurant kitchen.
- Demonstrated experience preparing Italian and modern Australian dishes, including pasta, pizza, meat and contemporary café-style meals.
- Experience preparing and cooking wood-fired pizza, pasta dishes and traditional Italian-style sauces would be highly regarded.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, portion control and qualified presentation across a diverse restaurant menu.
- Ability to maintain consistent food quality and presentation during high-volume breakfast, lunch and dinner service.
