Special exists to Make Work That Matters. How we work plays a big part in making that possible.

We’re looking for an Operations Director to help us make how Special works simpler, smarter and better: removing the things that get in the way, strengthening the things that matter, and exploring how AI, automation and emerging technology can help us work differently.

This is a hands-on role. We want someone who can see the bigger picture, spot where things could work better, then get into the detail and make it happen.

Someone who doesn’t stop at the recommendation.

What you’ll do

You’ll work across Special to:

- Shape how we work. Simplify processes, remove friction and create clear, useful ways of working.
- Make it easier to make great work. Help teams spend less time navigating process and more time where they add the most value.
- Strengthen our commercial discipline. Connect scope, effort, utilisation and performance so we can make better decisions.
- Build how we work next. Find practical ways to use AI, automation and emerging technology to solve real problems and improve everyday work.
- Make change happen. Turn valuable ideas into things people actually use, bringing teams with you and making new ways of working stick.

It’s a broad remit, but the common thread is simple: make it easier for Special and our people to do their best work.

You might come from a creative, media, technology or another fast-moving business. More important is how you think and operate.

You’re someone who

- Can move comfortably between the big picture and the detail.
- Is commercially sharp and understands how good operations affect performance.
- Has successfully implemented new systems, processes or ways of working.
- Is genuinely curious about AI, automation and what emerging technology makes possible.
- Likes messy problems and has a knack for making the complex feel simple.
- Builds trust, brings people with you and understands that change is about people, not just process.
- Gets satisfaction from making things actually happen.
