The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join a National Law Firm in Sydney CBD.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a payroll professional who is confident working independently and enjoys taking ownership of the full payroll function.

The role is a standalone payroll position within the Finance department, reporting directly to the Head of Finance.

The current Payroll Officer is moving on, so we are looking to appoint someone as soon as possible. Ideally, there will be an opportunity for a handover to ensure a smooth transition into the role.

Your Role:

- Own the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Manage super, payroll tax, statutory payments, starters, terminations and payroll adjustments.
- Maintain payroll records, compliance, controls and data integrity.
- Prepare reconciliations, journals, month-end/year-end reporting and Partners’ drawings.
- Partner with HR and IT on payroll systems, issues and process improvements.

About You:

- Proven end-to-end payroll experience with standalone/autonomous experience.
- Tertiary or TAFE qualification in Accounting




- Professional services experience essential; legal, accounting or financial services highly regarded.
- Strong payroll compliance knowledge and exceptional attention to detail.
- Highly organised with strong communication and stakeholder skills.
- Able to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Desirable:

- Experience with Access Payroll systems
- Experience with Aderant Practice Management Software
- Strong MS Excel skills
