SoundBay Pty Ltd is an Australian supplier of Musical Instruments, DJ Equipment, Pro Audio and Lighting products servicing nightclubs, bars, DJ's, musicians and the trade. Best known in Victoria as the parent company of Mannys Music and Store DJ, it operates eight retail stores in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane and currently employs over 200 staff. This position is in Victoria St at the National Head Office in Richmond, where we enjoy a spacious modern office with an abundance of natural light and close access to public transport.
This part-time 0.5-0.6 FTE role across 4-5 days is an excellent chance for an experienced Payroll professional looking for a flexible role within a supportive finance team.
Working from our Richmond based National Support Office and moving to our new location in Brunswick in 2027, you'll play an important role in managing the payroll function across our national retail network. You'll enjoy a varied workload, plenty of autonomy and the opportunity to make an immediate contribution in a collaborative team environment, with seven people who genuinely enjoy working together.
Regular Duties Include:
- Processing fortnightly payroll, including allowances, overtime, leave and reimbursements
- Managing payroll tax, Payday Super, FBT and other payroll compliance requirements
- Ensuring payroll, time and attendance systems and reporting are accurate and compliant
- Managing workers compensation payroll requirements and year-end payroll processes
- Reconciling payroll accounts, leave accruals and intercompany payroll charges
- Preparing payroll reporting, including month-end and FTE analysis
- Providing payroll data to support award compliance, salary reviews and workforce cost analysis
- Maintaining strong relationships with Finance, HR and employees to resolve payroll queries
- Identifying and implementing opportunities to improve payroll processes and systems
About You We're looking for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting things done. Ideally you'll bring:
- 5+ years' payroll experience in a comparable role, ideally within a retail environment and managing a medium to large workforce
- Experience processing payroll in line with employee contracts and applicable employment awards, preferably including the General Retail Industry Award (GRIA)
- Pronto experience is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, including ATO requirements and payroll legislation
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent reconciliation, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work independently and proactively identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and systems
