Plant Operator

Working across civil infrastructure, earthworks and construction projects, you will operate a range of plant and equipment while supporting the safe, effective and high-quality delivery of works. You will work closely with Site Supervisors, Leading Hands and ground crews across active construction sites.

About the role

Your responsibilities will include

- Operating excavators, loaders, rollers, skid steers and water carts within your level of competency
- Undertaking excavation, trenching, bulk earthworks and site preparation
- Moving materials, stockpiling, backfilling and preparing areas for compaction
- Supporting pipeline, drainage and underground services installation
- Completing trimming and finishing work where required
- Coordinating safely with pipelayers, labourers, spotters and other plant operators
- Conducting daily pre-start inspections and safety checks
- Reporting plant defects, maintenance requirements, hazards and incidents
- Maintaining plant cleanliness and ensuring equipment is safely parked and secured
- Following site plans, traffic management requirements and exclusion zones
- Participating in toolbox meetings, site inductions and safety briefings

About you To be successful in this role, you will have:





- Previous experience operating plant within civil construction
- A current Construction Industry White Card
- Relevant plant tickets or verified competencies
- Experience undertaking excavation and earthworks safely
- Strong awareness of underground services and active construction hazards
- The ability to follow site instructions, plans and safety procedures
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with ground crews
- A reliable, accountable and professional approach to work
- A current driver’s licence, preferred

Relevant competencies include excavator, skid steer, roller, loader and grader operations.
