Platform Run Engineer | Major Banking Environment | Sydney

Really Awesome People is seeking an experienced Platform Run Engineer to support a major Australian banking environment through one of our global consulting partners.

This is a six-month contract commencing in September 2026, with responsibility for the operational stability, performance and continuous improvement of enterprise testing tools, quality engineering platforms and AI services.

You will act as a senior operational owner and escalation point, working across engineering, infrastructure, cloud, security and architecture teams.

Key responsibilities include:

- Managing platform availability, reliability, performance and operational health
- Leading major incident, problem and root cause analysis activities
- Managing operational backlogs, Jira boards and ServiceNow queues
- Improving CI/CD pipelines, release processes and operational readiness
- Automating infrastructure and operational processes
- Supporting upgrades, patching, environment changes and platform lifecycle activities
- Maintaining operational governance, runbooks and service standards
- Monitoring platform health, logging, observability and proactive alerting
- Providing reporting on availability, incidents, risks,



capacity and service improvements
- Coaching engineers and promoting DevOps and operational engineering practices

We are looking for someone with:

- Approximately 8–11 years of relevant technology experience
- Strong experience supporting enterprise platforms in complex environments
- Strong CI/CD and DevOps experience using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or Bamboo
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible or Chef
- Scripting capability using Python, PowerShell, Shell or Java
- Knowledge of OpenShift, Kubernetes, containers and microservices
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms
- Robust incident, problem, change and release management capability
- Working knowledge of Jira, ServiceNow and Confluence
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Location: Sydney

Contract: Six months

Expected commencement: 21 September 2026
