Complete Portables is looking for an experienced and hands‑on Fabrication & Workshop Manager to supervise our welding, fabrication and paint workshop teams.

This role would suit someone who knows their way around a workshop, can keep a team moving and takes pride in producing quality work. You’ll be responsible for coordinating daily workloads, supervising staff and ensuring every job leaves the workshop completed safely, correctly and on time.

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead and supervise welders, fabricators, painters and workshop staff.

Organise, plan, and track workshop schedules to ensure timely project delivery.

Coordinating fabrication, repairs, painting and refurbishment work.

Monitoring job progress, productivity and completion dates.

Drive completion of quality documentation (ITPs, Inspection Checklists, etc.)

Inspecting completed work before equipment leaves the workshop.

Managing materials, consumables, tools and workshop stock.

Identifying required parts and arranging orders.

Ensuring tools and workshop equipment are maintained and safe to use.

Training, supporting and holding team members accountable.

Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workshop.

Working closely with management, operations and the yard team.

Completing basic job records, staff timesheets and workshop reports.

What We’re Looking For

Previous experience supervising a fabrication, welding, manufacturing or maintenance workshop.

Strong welding and fabrication knowledge.

Experience managing tradespeople and allocating workloads.

Sound knowledge of painting and surface-preparation processes.

The ability to read drawings, measurements and job specifications.

Solid leadership and communication skills.

Excellent organisation and problem-solving abilities.

A practical, hands‑on approach—you’ll be leading from the workshop floor, not hiding in the office!

Strong understanding of workplace health and safety.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Ability to pass a pre‑employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing.

Highly Regarded

Trade qualification in fabrication, welding or a related field.

White Card.

Experience repairing or manufacturing portable buildings, transportable buildings or construction equipment.

Experience in spray painting, industrial coatings or workshop paint preparation.

About You

You’re the type of person who can organise a busy workshop, communicate clearly and make sure everyone knows what they’re doing. You lead by example, notice the small details and aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves when the team needs a hand.

If you can keep the jobs moving, the standards high and the workshop running like a well-oiled machine, we’d love to hear from you.
