We are currently seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to join GTE Group as a senior technical authority within our Electrical Engineering discipline.

This is a highly influential technical role providing specialist electrical engineering expertise, technical governance and design assurance across a diverse portfolio of projects within the mining, industrial, energy and infrastructure sectors.

Working closely with our Electrical Engineering Manager, project teams and clients, you will provide technical direction on complex electrical engineering challenges, lead engineering assurance activities and support the continued development of technical capability across the discipline.

Key Responsibilities

- Act as a senior technical authority for Electrical Engineering across GTE
- Provide specialist technical advice and independent engineering judgement on complex electrical systems and projects
- Lead and review complex power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, harmonics, earthing and motor starting studies
- Provide technical leadership across LV and HV power systems, substations, switchgear, transformers, MCCs and associated electrical infrastructure
- Lead technical reviews, design assurance and engineering governance activities
- Review and approve critical engineering calculations, specifications, reports, drawings and technical deliverables
- Develop and maintain engineering standards, methodologies and technical guidance
- Identify and resolve complex technical risks, design issues and engineering challenges
- Provide specialist support throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and studies through to commissioning and operational handover
- Support tenders, proposals and the development of technical solutions for clients
- Build strong client relationships and act as a trusted technical advisor
- Mentor engineers and contribute to the development of technical capability across the Electrical discipline





Experience & Capability

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Significant electrical engineering experience, ideally within mining, industrial, energy, utilities or infrastructure environments
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), or eligibility to obtain
- Professional engineering registration such as RPEQ, RPEV, NER or equivalent is highly regarded
- Extensive experience with LV and HV power systems
- Strong capability in power system studies, protection and electrical distribution systems
- Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership and reviewing complex engineering deliverables
- Solid knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, engineering practices and regulatory requirements
- Proven ability to solve complex technical problems and provide sound engineering judgement
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder engagement capability
- Experience mentoring and developing engineers
- Experience with ETAP, PowerFactory, SKM or equivalent power system modelling software is highly regarded
- Experience across renewable energy, BESS or microgrid projects would be advantageous
