About the role

Measured Group is seeking an experienced Principal Mining Engineer to join our team in either Perth or Brisbane, providing senior technical leadership and delivering high-quality mine planning, study and advisory outcomes across a diverse range of client projects.

This role will suit a highly capable open pit mining engineer who combines strong technical judgement, consulting maturity, commercial awareness and clear communication. You will have the opportunity to influence study direction, lead complex mine planning work, support client decision-making and mentor developing engineers.

Offering broader exposure than a traditional single-site role, the position spans multiple assets and commodities, with involvement in mine planning, drill and blast, mine economics, feasibility studies, technical due diligence and strategic advisory work.

Key responsibilities

- Lead mining engineering and consulting assignments to agreed scope, schedule, budget, quality and commercial requirements.
- Provide principal-level technical review and direction for open pit mine design, including pits, waste dumps, haul roads, stockpiles and supporting site layouts.
- Lead, review and optimise short-, medium- and long-term mine schedules, including production strategies, material movements and practical operational constraints.
- Manage and contribute to Scoping, Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Studies, Mineral Reserve work, peer reviews and technical due diligence assignments.
- Assess mine planning assumptions, risks, opportunities and sensitivities, and translate technical findings into clear recommendations for clients.
- Prepare, review and sign off technical reports, presentations,



proposals and supporting documentation to a high professional standard.
- Build strong client relationships through clear communication, practical advice and reliable delivery.
- Lead or support proposal preparation, scope definition, fee estimates and project delivery planning.
- Mentor senior and developing engineers, support technical capability development and contribute to a high-performing consulting team.
- Undertake occasional travel to client offices and mine sites as required.

About you

- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or an equivalent recognised discipline
- Typically, 12+ years of relevant mining industry experience, with substantial open pit mine planning, operations and/or consulting exposure
- Proven capability leading mine design, scheduling, optimisation, trade-off studies and practical mine planning workflows across multiple planning horizons.
- Robust understanding of mining operations, study requirements, Mineral Reserve inputs and the drivers of safe, achievable and commercially robust mine plans
- Demonstrated experience leading or materially contributing to Scoping, Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility, due diligence or independent technical review assignments.
- Ability to provide technical reviews, challenge assumptions, identify risks and opportunities,



and convert complex analysis into concise client recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical matters clearly to clients, executives and multidisciplinary teams.
- Commercial awareness, consulting discipline and project delivery skills, including scoping, budgeting, prioritisation and quality management.
- Full working rights in Australia and a current Australian driver licence.
