The Role Are you an experienced radio producer or journalist who loves to create original and engaging content and set the news agenda? ABC Tropical North has an exciting chance for a content maker who can studio produce, to support a presenter to create informative and entertaining radio programs. You will produce compelling stories across multiple platforms, and plan content that resonates with the local audience. This role serves a region including Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays, the mining region west to Moranbah and Dysart and agricultural areas south to Sarina and St Lawrence. It is a diverse region, with fishing, snorkelling, rainforests, and tropical islands on your doorstep. The region boasts more than 30 beaches, a thriving arts community and other great lifestyle opportunities.

This Role Will See You

- Produce radio programs, including coordinating guest interviews and daily stories
- Produce and present distinctive and engaging content
- Create content across a number of platforms including digital, video, social media and radio programs
- Identify and deliver original regional stories to a local and national audience
- Develop strong contacts and break stories
- Contribute to the implementation of the Local Emergency Coverage plan and communicate with relevant stakeholders as required.

About You You have the necessary content making experience and developing presentation skills to be successful in this role. You have accomplished editorial skills and a willingness to work in a collaborative way as part of the ABC Tropical North team under the direction of the bureau Editor. Does this describe you?





- You have a thorough understanding of cross-platform content production
- You're savvy with social media and online content and know how to engage a diverse demographic
- You have a track record of producing high-quality contemporary radio, with the confidence to present if required
- You’re passionate about local current affairs, social issues, business, technology and culture
- You have a sound knowledge of the Tropical North region, as well as national and international issues
