Position Summary The Product Development Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Apparel Product Development Team. The role is responsible for sample handling, material management, data entry, filing, preparation for meetings and maintaining organised product records to support the apparel development process. This is an entry-level role suited to an individual seeking to build a career in Product Development and Production within the apparel industry for a 6-month period.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain sample, fabric and trim libraries, ensuring accurate organisation and tracking.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound samples with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Support product development activities through administration, data entry and PLM system updates.
- Assist with development tracking, reporting, presentations and product documentation.
- Prepare garments and samples for fit sessions, range reviews and product presentations.
- Support fit sessions by measuring samples and maintaining accurate records.
- Assist the Product Development and Production teams through key seasonal milestones and peak workload periods.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Identify opportunities to improve sample management, organisation and administrative processes.
- Maintain a safe and compliant work setting in line with company policies and procedures.
Experience / Technical Requirements
- Certificate, Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Fashion, Textiles, Product Development, Merchandise, Apparel Technology or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in retail, customer service, administration, fashion, or a related field is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work accurately to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Confident written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Willingness to learn new systems and processes, including PLM software.
- Proactive, positive and hands-on approach with a strong willingness to learn.
- Reliable, dependable and collaborative team player with the ability to build effective working relationships.
