About SuperAPI

SuperAPI is a Melbourne based RegTech company that connects Australia's employers, their payroll and HR software, the ATO, and superannuation funds. Every time someone starts a new job, we handle onboarding compliance from end to end: capturing and validating employee details, tax file number declaration, bank account validation, checking for a stapled fund, enabling choice of fund, and registration for employer default funds, all compliantly and without manual intervention . This matters more than ever now that Payday Super requires payroll super contributions within days of payday, which turns getting onboarding wrong into a real compliance risk on every hire.

We reach employers and employees through an embedded software distribution strategy. Our platform services are embedded inside many of Australia's leading payroll and workforce management platforms.

We also distribute our own small business product, Xonboard, a simple and secure onboarding solution and a certified five star app in the Xero App Store. And increasingly we are distributed through enterprise systems like Workday and SAP SuccessFactors to reach some of Australia's largest corporations.

Uniquely, our suite of API’s and the automation they provide requires that we partner with many of Australia's largest super funds. This has resulted in our ability to offer the broadest and deepest fund automations for employer payroll in the market. We're proudly independent, which is what lets funds and software partners trust us to operate neutrally across the whole market, and we're growing fast with a lot still to build.

About the role

Thousands of people move through our super choice and onboarding flows every day, we need to enhance our capabilities around managing this user journey at scale. Current optimisation processes are largely exception based, support initiated or discovered from small data sets (screen recordings, etc). Currently the responsibility for that is spread across the team.

You will own conversion and behavioural outcomes across our onboarding surfaces: forming your own hypotheses, designing experiments, and shipping the winners. This role will own this process from designing and implementing the analytics, analysis and reporting, coming up with hypothesis / tests, through to designing and scoping implementation.

What makes it interesting is that many common conversion techniques are off the table. We operate in a highly regulated industry, as a trusted and critical provider - we are not, and do not act like big tech or consumer web, and therefore do not manufacture urgency, or use common online conversion techniques to achieve outcomes.

The compliance and regulatory constraints come first here, then the product and the outcomes it produces for the four parties we serve, being members, employers, super funds and software partners. Revenue flows from doing that well.

We are a small team, so you will have real ownership and few layers of approval. Engineering time is shared across compliance, partner work and the roadmap, and we estimate that three properly designed experiments could be delivered each month related to growth. We make extensive use of AI powered tools (including Claude) during the design and prototyping phases, but engineering remains responsible for delivery and maintenance of the production codebase.

Key Responsibilities

What you will own

- Scientific optimisation of user journey’s, starting with the super choice form and fund selection process: completion rate, drop-off, validation error rates and time to complete. This will be your first priority.
- Employer enablement: We have a setup process for new employers which includes setting a default fund and setting up features such as super stapling.
- Post-onboarding selections and rollover: usage, success metrics and abandonment. These are optional, but high value processes for an employee to complete.
- Instrumentation and the event taxonomy. We run PostHog today, with Metabase for operational reporting, and whether that is the right stack in twelve months is your call to identify and argue for
- Hypothesis development and experiment design
- Partner-segmented analysis, since our traffic arrives via payroll and HR platform partners whose funnels behave differently
- Xonboard feature engagement, including welcome videos, e-sign and the rest of the onboarding sequence.

This enables the roles focus area to expand over time, to other features and products we manage.

Key Position Outcomes

- A measurable, sustained lift in completion and conversion across the super choice and onboarding flows, with errors and drop-off trending down
- A disciplined experiment programme of at least two to three tests
- Instrumentation and an event taxonomy the business trusts, with the right analytics stack argued for and in place
- Employer default and rollover flows improved on uptake, comprehension and abandonment

- Every optimisation delivered inside the regulatory and partner constraints, with no compliance issues
- Partner-segmented insight that shows where each partner funnel underperforms and what to do about it

Required Skills & Experience

- You have run a real experimentation programme in a moderate-to-high-volume funnel, where each test had an prospect cost and you had to choose carefully
- You own analysis of analytics data. You can write SQL, and you either know HogQL (posthog) or have a willingness to pick it up
- You are comfortable with designing, delivering and measuring experiments.
- You write clear, plain English UX copy, because a meaningful share of the wins here will be wording, ordering and defaults rather than new features
- You are comfortable in a regulated product with hard limits on what you are allowed to optimise
- Nice to have:
- Australian banking, superannuation, payroll, HR tech or fintech experience
- Qualitative work such as session replay analysis and user interviews, alongside the quantitative
- Enough front end capability to self-serve on copy and configuration changes behind feature flags

SuperAPI Culture & Values We're a small team with a big mission: to simplify employer compliance through intuitive, integrated tools that automate superannuation and payroll obligations. Our values:

- Security First : Trust is built into every layer of what we do.

- Make It Simple : We reduce friction for customers at every opportunity.

- Better Together : Collaboration drives the best outcomes.

- Practical Innovation : We focus on solving real problems with reliable tech.

How we hire and how you apply We care about optimism, being curious, and having a strong work ethic. You can read more about how we hire here: How we hire
