About Balonne Shire:

The Balonne Shire is located along the beautiful Balonne River, just five hours' drive west of Brisbane on the QLD-NSW border. Balonne Shire Council has a dedicated team of 110+ staff and population of 4,500 people who live in the surrounding towns of St George, Thallon, Dirranbandi, Bollon, Nindigully, Mungindi and Hebel.

About the role The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Manager Roads Construction and Maintenance in providing specialist engineering, construction management and contract administration expertise in the delivery of road and drainage infrastructure projects. The role plays a key part in delivering Council's capital works program, managing infrastructure projects, and ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

- Undertake and provide technical expertise in contract administration for road infrastructure projects
- Manage Council's day-to-day road construction and maintenance programs, including Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) projects
- Manage allocated capital and operational infrastructure projects from planning through to completion
- Assist with planning, coordination, leadership and performance management of project activities
- Monitor project budgets and contribute to financial management of road maintenance and construction programs
- Prepare reports relating to safety, expenditure, quality, environmental compliance and stakeholder engagement
- Assist with progress claims, payment certifications and contract administration activities
- Maintain quality assurance systems, records and documentation relevant to construction projects
- Support procurement, construction management and delivery of Council's capital works program

About you

- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and legislative requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work independently,



manage competing priorities and achieve quality outcomes
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a customer-focused approach
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to build effective working relationships and make sound decisions within delegated authority
- Experience maintaining quality assurance systems and records for construction works
- Knowledge of civil road and drainage construction and rehabilitation techniques
- Experience in the procurement and administration of civil infrastructure construction contracts, including AS4300 contracts
- Experience in road construction and maintenance project delivery will be highly regarded

- Over award salary of $98,325 per annum plus locality allowance of $1,945 per annum
- 19 day month (Monthly RDO)
- 5 weeks Annual Leave per annum
