Primary objective

As a Project Officer, role is to manage the development and delivery of assigned projects in the Alice Springs region. Support other areas in the Transport and Civil Infrastructure Division in the regional office as required.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Assist the Project Manager to deliver assigned Minor Works, Repairs and Maintenance, and some Capital Works.
2. The ability to drive to and undertake project site supervision and contract management role for a range of civil projects.
3. Undertake asset inspections, record and manage electronic defect collection data.
4. Prepare project proposals, technical reports, estimate of costs,



contract documentation, procurement and contract administration and

supervision to ensure that workmanship and materials comply with current standards, codes and guidelines and all relevant clearances are obtained.
1. Assist with the investigation, development and formulation of the civil maintenance programs for roads and other civil assets in the

region.
1. Provide professional advice to stakeholders, Project Managers, regions and client agencies on all phases of the delivery of Capital

Works and Minor New Works projects.
1. Carry out duties in other areas of the civil section if required including emergency management operations.

Selection criteria

Essential
2. A relevant qualification awarded by an Australian institution, or equivalent; or relevant experience in a field of technical work closely

related to the duties of the vacancy.
- Good written and oral communications skills including the ability to prepare, procurement and project management documentation.
- Good knowledge of road and civil industry design, construction and maintenance techniques and practices, including roads best practice environmental management.
- Well-developed information technology skills including word processing and spreadsheet software as well as project management tools.
- Positive working knowledge of the requirements of the relevant legislationand policies, as applied in the NT as well as a range of

Australian Standards, Codes of Practice and associated Guidelines.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
- An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.

Desirable

1. Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision and/or Government Procurement.
