About The Opportunity

Looking for a role where you can learn, grow and make a meaningful difference to babies, children and their families? Join our dynamic Paediatrics and Special Care Unit, where you'll have the opportunity to work across two specialised clinical areas and develop a broad and transferable range of nursing skills.

Our 13-bed Special Care Unit, including 8 funded beds, provides care for premature and newborn babies, including babies born from approximately 32–34 weeks gestation. You'll work in a high-paced environment supporting babies who require additional monitoring and specialised care.

Our 14-bed Paediatric Unit provides care for children and young people across a diverse range of presentations, including medical, surgical, orthopaedic and eating disorder care. With permanent full-time, part time and casual opportunities available, this is an exciting prospect to join a service where every shift brings something different.

What You Will Be Doing

No two days are the same. You'll have the opportunity to work across multiple areas, broaden your experience and build skills that are transferable across paediatric and special care nursing.

You Will

- Provide safe, high-quality and family-centred nursing care to babies, children and young people.
- Work across Paediatrics and Special Care, gaining experience across a diverse range of clinical presentations.
- Care for premature and newborn babies requiring additional monitoring and support.
- Provide nursing care to children and young people with medical, surgical, orthopaedic and eating disorder presentations.
- Complete clinical assessments and monitor patients, recognising and escalating changes in condition.
- Develop and evaluate individualised plans of care in partnership with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide education, support and reassurance to children, young people and their families.
- Work collaboratively with nursing, medical and allied health professionals.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to safe, high-quality care.
- Participate in education, professional development and quality improvement activities.

An interest in Paediatrics is desirable, and previous paediatric or special care experience will be highly regarded. However, we recognise that many nursing skills are transferable, and we are committed to supporting you to develop your paediatric knowledge and capabilities.
