About the roleWe are seeking a talented and ambitious Reporting Analyst to help transform data into clear, trusted and useful business insights.
This is a mid-level role suited to someone with strong Power BI capability, practical experience working within the Microsoft Azure environment, and the confidence to work directly with stakeholders. You will develop dashboards and reports, improve the quality and consistency of organisational data, and help establish a more mature approach to reporting and analytics.
We are looking for someone who is technically capable, genuinely curious and keen to grow. You will enjoy solving problems, learning how the organisation works and finding better ways to turn complex data into information people can understand and act upon.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports and visualisations.
- Work with business stakeholders to understand their reporting needs and translate them into practical solutions.
- Connect, transform and model data from multiple business systems and data sources.
- Develop and maintain Power Query transformations and DAX measures.
- Support the development of the organisation’s Azure-based data and reporting environment.
- Assist with data warehouse, data lake and integration activities where required.
- Validate data and investigate discrepancies to ensure reports are accurate, consistent and trusted.
- Establish clear definitions for measures, KPIs, calculations and business rules.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of data dictionaries and reporting documentation.
- Improve existing manual and spreadsheet-based reporting processes through automation.
- Apply appropriate security, access and governance controls to reports and datasets.
- Support testing, reconciliation, deployment and ongoing improvement of reporting solutions.
- Help users understand and confidently use dashboards and analytical information.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting capability, data quality and organisational decision-making.
About youYou are a capable reporting professional who combines technical ability with strong business awareness. You are comfortable exploring unfamiliar data, asking intelligent questions and working through ambiguity.
You will bring
- Demonstrated experience developing professional reports and dashboards in Power BI.
- Strong working knowledge of DAX, Power Query and data modelling.
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure data services or an Azure-based reporting environment.
- Sound SQL skills and experience querying relational databases.
- An understanding of data warehouses, data pipelines, integration and dimensional modelling.
- Experience gathering and documenting reporting and analytical requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
- The ability to explain technical concepts and analytical findings in plain language.
- Strong problem-solving, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- The initiative to work independently while contributing positively to a broader team.
- Curiosity, energy and a genuine ambition to develop into a highly capable analytics professional.
Desirable experienceExperience in one or more of the following would be beneficial:
- Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse or Azure Data Lake.
- Power BI Service administration, workspaces, deployment pipelines and row-level security.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other ERP systems.
- Financial, workforce, operational or healthcare reporting.
- Data governance, master data management or data-quality frameworks.
- Agile delivery, project environments or major system implementations.
- Python, APIs or other data-integration and automation tools.
QualificationsA relevant tertiary qualification in data analytics, information technology, computer science, business, finance or a related discipline is desirable.
