Save the Children Australia

Adelaide

Op shopping isn't what it used to be. Our Croydon store sits in one of Adelaide's best browsing strips, and the people coming through the door are chasing the thrill of the find — the vintage denim, the mid-century glassware, the book they didn't know they were looking for. Every dollar that crosses the counter funds Save the Children's work with kids in Australia and around the world. It is retail with a point.

A place to make a difference:

We're looking for a Store Manager to take the reins at Croydon and make it their own in this full time, permanent position. If you've built your craft in retail — running a store, a department or a team — and you've been quietly wondering whether those skills could go somewhere that means something, this is that role.

Bring the commercial instincts with you: the eye for a display that stops people mid-footpath, the feel for when a category is going flat, the nerve to trial something and see what happens. Why not Thursday night shopping? Bring us the idea and we'll back you to run it.

Croydon also has something most op shops don't. Our community workshop space hosts local teachers running classes in clothing repair and mending, watercolour painting, scrapbooking and more — real skills, taught by real neighbours, in a room attached to the store. It is a genuine point of difference and we want a manager who will get behind it: fill the calendar, spread the word, and turn the people who come for a class into people who come for everything.

This is a leadership role. You'll lead a large and long-standing volunteer team who give their time because they care about this place, and the managers who do well here set a clear direction, back it with warmth, and are comfortable having the honest conversation when something isn't working. You'll be supported by an Area Manager and a State Retail Team who want you to grow this store, not just keep it ticking.

You will make a difference by:

- Achieving sales targets and identify opportunities to grow revenue and customer spend.
- Creating outstanding customer experiences that reflect Save the Children's values and service standards.
- Inspiring, developing and managing a passionate volunteer workforce.

- Strengthening community connections through local partnerships, events and workshop programs.
- Ensuring smooth store operations, visual merchandising excellence and strong compliance practices.
- Driving stock donations, inventory management and financial accountability to support store success.

A place to feel valued: You'll be a people-focused retail leader who combines commercial drive with community engagement to create a welcoming store, inspire volunteers and grow meaningful impact.

This role requires:

- Proven retail leadership experience with the ability to inspire, coach and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
- A confident communicator who can build strong relationships with customers, volunteers, donors and community partners.
- Highly organised with excellent time management, customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptable and hands-on approach, including weekend availability and the ability to support stock handling and store operations.

A place to belong:

We are diverse personalities, backgrounds and talents, embracing our differences as one strong and united team. We see and celebrate the unique value you bring to our organisation, and offer a range of rewards for your effort, including:

- Opportunity to work on additional projects to enable you to stretch and feel connected to programs in a different way
