Position Details
Mater Dei College has the opportunity for a part-time, ongoing Risk and Compliance Officer to become an integral part of the College’s Mathematics Team, ideally commencing Term 4 2026 or Semester 1 2027.
This role is anticipated to be undertaken 3 days per week (to be negotiated), 8:00am to 4:00pm for 41 weeks per year (School Term time plus 1 additional week to be worked during the school holiday period).
We are seeking a proactive, highly organised, dedicated and detail-oriented individual who is committed to supporting a safe, compliant and well-governed College environment.
Responsibilities The Risk and Compliance Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks across the College’s risk and compliance and Work Health and Safety functions that are inclusive of, but not limited to:
- Monitoring and supporting the College’s compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, standards and policies, and assisting with the implementation of required changes.
- Maintaining and supporting the College’s risk management and compliance frameworks, including risk registers, reporting systems, records and associated documentation.
- Reviewing, developing and maintaining College policies, procedures and operational guidelines to support effective governance and consistent practices across the College.
- Coordinating Work Health and Safety, incident and assurance activities, including hazard and incident reporting, risk assessments, audits, inspections and corrective actions.
- Providing practical advice and support to staff regarding risk management, compliance obligations, workplace safety, policies and procedures and coordinating relevant training and professional learning.
- Working collaboratively with College Leadership and staff to identify areas for improvement and promote a strong culture of safety, accountability,
risk awareness and continuous improvement.
Selection Criteria The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism whilst supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the College.
You Will
- Have demonstrated experience in risk management, compliance, Work Health and Safety, governance or a related field.
- Have a sound knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and compliance obligations, with the ability to interpret requirements and apply practical solutions.
- Have experience reviewing, implementing and maintaining policies, procedures, registers and reporting systems.
- Demonstrate experience in conducting or supporting audits, inspections, investigations and risk assessments.
- Possess strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide clear, practical guidance to staff.
- Have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, building positive relationships with College Leadership, staff and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and maintaining a safe, accountable and compliant College setting.
- Be highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with experience working within a school, education or similarly regulated environment considered highly desirable.
Qualifications Required Hold a relevant qualification in Risk Management, Work Health and Safety, Compliance, Governance, Business Administration or a related discipline.
Terms of Employment
- Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWC).
- Hold a National Police Clearance with the Department of Education.
- Hold, or be working towards completion of, Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School.
- Annually complete Child Protection Procedures and Mandatory Reporting Training
