Safety Advisor
Fortitude Valley An established and growing construction business is seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to join its team on a permanent basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive safety professional looking to take ownership of workplace health and safety across active construction projects, working closely with project teams, subcontractors and senior management to drive a strong safety culture.
The Role
As Safety Advisor, you will provide practical safety support and guidance across construction projects, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards and company requirements.
You will work closely with Site Managers, Project Managers, subcontractors and site personnel to identify and manage risks, implement effective safety systems and promote continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day WHS advice and support to project and site teams
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety observations
- Identify hazards and assist with risk assessment and control measures
- Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, regulations, codes of practice and project requirements
- Investigate incidents,
near misses and non-conformances and assist with corrective actions
- Assist project teams with safety planning and pre-start activities
- Maintain accurate WHS records, reporting and documentation
- Promote a positive, proactive and accountable safety culture across projects
About You
You will ideally have
- Demonstrated experience in a Safety Advisor or similar WHS role within the construction industry
- Relevant qualifications in Work Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline
- Solid knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and construction safety requirements
- Experience conducting site inspections, audits and incident investigations
- Strong understanding of SWMS, risk assessments and hazard management
