**Calling all relief captains in Aus/NZ region**
We are looking for an experienced Relief Captain to join a solid 32m expedition motor yacht for approximately 10 days while the permanent Captain takes some well-earned leave.
The yacht will be operating up river in Old Mapoon, completing the final week of a barra fishing program before returning directly to Cairns, departing the river on 1 October.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, experienced Captain who genuinely loves fishing, enjoys an expedition-style operation and is confident managing a small, established crew.
The yacht:
- Australian owner
- Approximately 6 full-time crew
- Established operation with a Captain who has been onboard for 5+ years
- Strong fishing / expedition program
The role:
- Relief Captain: 23 September - 3 October
- Based in Far North Queensland / Old Mapoon
- Complete the final week of the fishing program
- Safely command the vessel and manage day-to-day operations
- Maintain crew standards and discipline
- Return the vessel to Cairns following the guest trip
Requirements:
- Master 4 / MCA Master 500GT or equivalent
- Proven experience as Captain on similar-size vessels
- Strong command and crew-management skills
- Must currently be located in Australia, New Zealand or the Indo-Pacific region
- Valid and current qualifications/certificates
- Fishing experience is a major advantage
- Expedition / remote-area experience highly regarded
