Primary objective

As a senior Aboriginal Health Practitioner, in collaboration with the professional lead, coordinate the learning and development of a culturally safe and responsive professional Aboriginal health workforce across the [Top End Central region].

Context statement The Aboriginal Health Practitioner classification level AHP5 Coordinator Education is an experienced senior practitioner who is able to work autonomously, understands the health system,



organisation and local communities; professional capabilities, and is focussed on strengthening the learning and development of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health worker and practitioner workforce. Note this position will be located within Population and Primary Health Care, Darwin based and required to travel out to remote communities

Key duties and responsibilities

1. In consultation with the professional lead, identify, coordinate and support the career development and essential training

for the Aboriginal health worker and practitioner workforce across the [Top End Central region].

- Monitor essential training compliance and develop timely workforce reports for the professional lead, and the education team.
- Provide Leadership to the health care team and community on the provision of a holistic health care service in a local primary health care community environment to build both cultural competences.
- Effectively engage with community members and key stakeholders to strengthen community involvement in the training and development of a culturally safe and responsive Aboriginal health workforce.
- Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.




- Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Current registration with Ahpra as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner.
2. Minimum AQF level 6 as per NTPS Aboriginal Health Practitioner 2025-2029 Enterprise Agreement or be able to demonstrate

sufficient sustained experience and practice to satisfy the CEO they should be appointed to that level.
- Proven experience providing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care practice as an advanced practitioner.
- Demonstrated experience providing support and wellbeing to Aboriginal health workers and practitioners including providing feedback and contributing to practice improvements.
- Demonstrated local Aboriginal cultural knowledge and respect as a senior practitioner with the ability to effectively communicate and engage with the community to identify appropriate current and future workforce.
