ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a broad, hands-on finance role covering the day-to-day operation of Stanley College, from general ledger and accounts payable through to reconciliations and reporting.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, agent commissions and banking, and for the accuracy of monthly reporting and reconciliations. The role plays an active part in strengthening the finance function's controls and driving process improvement, working closely with the Group Accountant and Financial Controller. It suits an experienced, capable accountant who enjoys variety, takes real ownership of their numbers, and wants to be part of building something better.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations and Reporting

- Process accounts payable and calculate agent commissions.
- Upload approved payment files (supplier and payroll) via Commbiz.
- Prepare month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Contribute to the preparation of accurate, timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Support monitoring of cash flow, working capital and the financial health of the business.
- Manage financial reconciliations and end-of-month reporting processes.

Compliance and Risk Management

- Support compliance with relevant legislation, accounting standards,



tax regulations and audit requirements.
- Help maintain strong internal controls to safeguard Group assets and ensure accurate financial data.
- Assist with the coordination of external audit activities, preparing schedules and information as required.
- Flag financial risks and process gaps to the Group Accountant and Financial Controller.

Systems and Process Improvement

- Actively contribute to system improvement initiatives (e.g. procurement processes), looking for opportunities to simplify and automate.
- Help evaluate and implement new financial tools and technologies, including AI-enabled process improvements.
- Support data integrity and security across financial operations.
- Participate in Group-wide finance projects and initiatives as required.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Qualifications and experience

- Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance or Business (or equivalent experience)
- CPA/CA qualified (or nearing completion)
- 3+ years' experience in a similar accounts or senior accountant role.
- Solid working knowledge of accounts payable, reconciliations and month-end processes.
- Comfortable working autonomously.
- A genuine improvement mindset, enjoys finding a better, more efficient way of doing things.
- Experience in a multi-site, education or services business is an advantage.
