Commercial Litigation | Senior Associate / Special Counsel

Complex commercial litigation and insolvency work. Established clients and referrers. Genuine progression without needing to arrive with a portable practice.

We're working with a specialist commercial litigation and insolvency firm that is growing its Brisbane team and looking to appoint experienced lawyers from Senior Associate through to Principal level.

The practice is already busy with genuinely interesting work across:

- insolvency litigation, including administrations, liquidations, recoveries and voidable transactions;
- acting for insolvency practitioners, directors, creditors and other stakeholders;
- restructuring and insolvency advice and related court processes;
- shareholder, unitholder and business ownership/oppression disputes;
- complex business and family enterprise separations;
- contractual and broader commercial disputes; and
- urgent injunctions, mediations and Supreme and Federal Court proceedings.

Importantly, this isn't a role where progression depends on arriving with a substantial book of business. The work is there. The clients and referrers are there. The team and infrastructure are there.

What the firm wants are solid commercial litigation and/or insolvency lawyers who can take increasing ownership of that platform - running complex matters, developing existing client and referrer relationships, mentoring junior lawyers and helping grow the practice.

For a Senior Associate or Special Counsel,



there is a genuine opportunity to build towards Principal while developing the leadership and business development skills needed at that level.

For someone already operating at Principal level, there is scope to step into an established practice and play a significant role in its continued growth. The firm's senior brief expressly describes this as expansion of an existing practice rather than starting from scratch.

About you

You'll ideally have 5+ years' PAE and a strong background in commercial litigation, insolvency or restructuring.

You might be a broad commercial litigator with experience across corporate, shareholder and contractual disputes, or an insolvency lawyer looking for a practice where insolvency and restructuring work forms a significant part of the offering.

You'll be comfortable taking ownership of matters and want increasing exposure to clients, referrers, junior supervision and practice development.
