Senior Data Architect

We're seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect to design and build the EC Digital Hub — a single, central data platform connecting seven systems across a construction digital ecosystem. This is a hands-on opportunity for a well-rounded senior engineer/architect who can work across the full tech stack, hold two-way conversations with stakeholders both upstream and downstream, and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty while still building at an architectural level.

- A heavily AI-driven workplace, hands-on, AI-assisted development using Databricks, generic AI tooling and Claude Code
- Work directly with key stakeholders across a live capital project, both upstream and downstream

THE ROLE Working across an architecture that connects 7 systems, you'll sit alongside an engineer working across the digital ecosystem for construction projects, with the goal of bringing all data into a single, large central data hub. You'll need strong grasp of the overall architecture and engineering, not just hands-on coding and be comfortable moving and bringing in large amounts of data, tying design, engineering and delivery together end-to-end.

Solution Design & Architecture

Design and build (hands-on, AI-assisted development) the EC Digital Hub across its three modules a thin experience-layer UI, an Engineering AI Agent, and a Data Layer encompassing:

- Ingestion pipeline design and build using Fivetran connectors, bringing Primavera P6, Coupa, Anaplan,



Pronto and Risk Manager data into the Databricks Enterprise Data Platform.
- Bronze → Silver → Gold medallion data modelling with dbt — the unified costing & estimation model, standardised commodity code / WBS classification, and the costing knowledge graph.
- Build and integration of the Engineering AI Agent module (Bedrock via Databricks) for natural-language knowledge-graph Q&A;, AI-assisted estimate generation, and commodity/WBS classification — drafts only, with the UI visually distinguishing AI-drafted content from human-approved data and requiring sign-off before anything is committed.
- Design and delivery of the first proven use case the Progress Tracking Module (schedule % complete and WBS-level progress, sourced from Primavera P6 / Synchro Perform) built and validated against Cardo Bore, a live capital project, in parallel with its Project Manager.
- Data exchange, entity mapping and refresh-workflow design between the retained systems of record and the Hub's Data Layer.
- Create and maintain architectural artefactsm, solution designs, integration patterns, data flows, and technical specifications, keeping the model current as design decisions land.
- Ensure solutions comply with DTS enterprise architecture frameworks, security standards (Okta identity,



AWS Secrets Manager, appropriate data residency) and regulatory requirements.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

- Cloud data platforms — Databricks (Unity Catalog, workflows, SQL Warehouse) and AWS (ECS Fargate, CloudFront, WAF, ALB, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch).
- Integration and ELT patterns (Fivetran or equivalent connectors, APIs, batch/file exchange) across ERP, PPM and cost-management systems.
- Data transformation with dbt (or equivalent), including testing, documentation and CI for data models.
- LLM/AI agent development (e.g. AWS Bedrock) for natural-language query, draft generation and classification tasks, with appropriate guardrails for human review.
- Identity and access, OIDC/OAuth2 (Okta), least-privilege service accounts.
- Full-stack development (e.g. Next.js / React) to a level sufficient to build, or closely direct the build of, a thin front-door UI.
- Generic AI tooling, with heavy proficiency in Claude Code.
- Working knowledge of capital-project systems of record such as Primavera P6, Coupa, Anaplan, Pronto and risk/register tooling as data sources to be integrated.
- Understanding of data classification and residency requirements for commercially sensitive project data.
