We are looking for an experienced Senior Civil Construction Estimator to join our growing team in Townsville. This is more than an estimating role — you will play a key part in identifying commercial opportunities and risks and ensuring projects are effectively handed over and mobilised for successful delivery.

As a key member of the RMS Engineering & Construction team, you will work closely with management, project teams and clients to take ownership of the tender process from initial opportunity through to award. You will then lead the tender handover and initial project mobilisation, ensuring our projects are set up for a successful transition into delivery

About the Role

You will be responsible for:

- Preparing accurate and competitive estimates and tenders for civil construction projects.
- Reviewing scopes, drawings, specifications, quantities and project requirements.
- Developing detailed cost estimates, pricing and tender submissions using Expert Estimator.
- Identifying, assessing and providing practical solutions to commercial risks associated with tenders.
- Working with management to develop tender strategies and identify opportunities to improve project outcomes.
- Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and clarify scope.
- Reviewing contractual, commercial and construction risks prior to submission.
- Leading the tender-to-project handover, ensuring key commercial, scope, program and delivery information is effectively communicated to the project team.
- Initiating project mobilisation activities, including coordinating the early works, resources, plant, procurement, subcontractor requirements and project readiness.
- Working as the link between estimating, commercial and project delivery teams to ensure a smooth transition from awarded tender to construction.
- Supporting project teams with estimating, variations, cost information and commercial matters as required.





About You We are looking for someone who brings solid technical estimating capability and commercial understanding, with the confidence to take a project from opportunity through to mobilisation.

You will ideally have

- Proven experience as a Senior Civil Construction Estimator within the civil construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction methodologies, quantities, productivity, plant, labour and subcontractor costs.
- Demonstrated experience preparing tenders for civil infrastructure, earthworks, roads, drainage or similar civil projects.
- Proficiency in Expert Estimator – highly advantageous
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify, assess and mitigate tender risks.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to analyse complex project information.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively with Project Managers, Supervisors, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully handover awarded tenders to project teams.
- The organisational skills and initiative to coordinate and initiate project mobilisation and early works activities.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work to deadlines.
