Brisbane | Full time | Morgan Consulting Engineers
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Forensic Engineer – RPEQ to join Morgan Consulting Engineers in Brisbane.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to apply their technical expertise in a different way – investigating structural damage, defects and failures, determining causation and providing clear, evidence-based engineering opinions and solutions.
You’ll independently manage forensic matters from initial instruction through to site inspection, investigation, technical reporting and structural design working with a range of clients and stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing
- Undertaking site inspections and forensic investigations into structural damage, defects and failures
- Assessing evidence, construction information and site conditions to determine cause and contributing factors
- Preparing clear, technically robust forensic engineering reports
- Providing practical rectification and remediation recommendations where required
- Undertaking Structural analysis of existing and new structures
- Preparing structural designs for remedial works and alterations to existing structures
- Preparing structural design sketches and liaising with our drafting team to prepare high-quality structural design packages.
- Managing matters independently from initial instruction through to completion
- Communicating technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Providing technical guidance and support to less experienced engineers
- Contributing to the continued development of MCE’s forensic engineering capability
About you
You’ll ideally have
- A degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering
- Current RPEQ registration in the relevant area of engineering
- Approximately 5+ years’ relevant engineering experience
- Experience in forensic, structural, remedial, diagnostic or building-related engineering
- Strong investigation, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent technical report writing capability
- Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, construction methods, materials, defects and failure mechanisms
- The ability to confidently manage your own projects and priorities
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex engineering matters clearly
- A current driver’s licence
Previous forensic engineering experience would be highly regarded, but we’re also interested in hearing from experienced structural or remedial engineers looking to move into forensic engineering.
Experience preparing expert reports and/or providing expert evidence would also be highly regarded.
