About the role:
Lawmeeis working with a highly regarded financial services organisation to secure an experienced Senior Legal Counsel on a contracting basis. Commencing as soon as possible, this opportunity is expected to run for approximately 3 months, with the potential to extend. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with 2 days per week in the Melbourne office and the remainder working from home.
Working closely with the General Counsel & Company Secretary and senior stakeholders across the business, you will provide practical, commercially focused legal support across a broad range of day-to-day corporate and commercial matters.
Some of your key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts, agreements and other legal documentation.
- Providing practical commercial legal advice to stakeholders across the organisation.
- Reviewing marketing, member communications and other external materials from a legal and regulatory perspective.
- Assisting with corporate and governance matters as required.
- Supporting the organisation's transition to an AFSL-regulated environment, including assisting with the implementation and operationalisation of new policies, procedures and compliance frameworks.
- Reviewing documentation and business processes for consistency with applicable financial services regulatory requirements.
- Assisting with regulatory and compliance matters arising in connection with the AFSL application and subsequent implementation.
- Working with internal stakeholders and external legal advisers on regulatory and commercial matters.
Who we are looking for:
Given the nature of the engagement, we are seeking an experienced lawyer with a solid background in commercial and corporate law. Experience in financial services regulation, AFSL requirements and/or working within a regulated financial services environment would be highly regarded.
