About the role:
Lawmee is working with a well-regarded mining services company to secure an experienced senior lawyer to join their high performing team.
Commencing as soon as possible, this opportunity is expected to run for an initial period of approximately 2–3 months, with robust potential to extend or transition into a permanent role for the right lawyer. The engagement will initially be part-time (3 - 4 days per week) and could transition to full-time dependant on the clients’ requirements.
Supporting the General Counsel, you will be heavily involved in a broad range of contracting activities across the business.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Drafting, negotiating and reviewing contracts, subcontracts and other commercial agreements
- Leading contract negotiations and supporting project delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Advising on procurement processes matters
- Reviewing and advising on variations, extensions of time and contractual claims
- Managing disputes, claims, litigation and insurance matters, with a focus on achieving early resolution
- Supporting litigation management as and when matters arise
Who we are looking for: We would like to hear from lawyers with 10+ years’ PAE, ideally gained in leading national or international firms or within in-house teams in the mining services sector.
The ideal candidate will have a background commercial contracting, litigation or corporate law, with strong commercial acumen and the ability to navigate complex contractual issues. You will be adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
