Our Business The Engineering and Asset Management Branch is responsible for bus maintenance (both first-line at depots and second-line at Toowong Workshops), establishing and managing fleet maintenance policies, procuring fleet assets, maintaining electrical charging infrastructure, investigating incidents, managing non-bus assets and facilities, overseeing major projects, and coordinating IT requirements for the division.

The Role Reporting to the General Manager, Engineering and Asset Management, this executive leadership role is responsible for the governance, operation and continuous improvement of Brisbane Metro's high voltage electrical infrastructure and associated transport assets.

As the organisation's designated High Voltage Operating Authority (HVOA), you will hold ultimate accountability for the protected operation, isolation and access to all high voltage electrical assets across Brisbane Metro and related infrastructure. This is a highly influential position with significant legal, operational and reputational responsibility, directly contributing to the safe delivery of public transport services to the people of Brisbane.

Leading highly specialised teams and managing critical stakeholder relationships, you will drive a culture of safety, performance excellence and continuous improvement while supporting the delivery of Council's strategic priorities and Olympic readiness initiatives.

To be successful you will have:

- Authorised High Voltage Operating Authority (HVOA) status, or equivalent experience, with demonstrated success overseeing high voltage systems in complex and highly regulated environments
- Extensive knowledge of Queensland electrical safety legislation,



standards and industry best practice, including the Electrical Safety Act 2002 and associated regulations
- Proven experience leading electrical safety, risk management, incident response and regulatory compliance functions with accountability for critical infrastructure
- Strong leadership capability with a track record of building high-performing teams, fostering a positive safety culture and driving organisational performance with capabilities aligned to Council's Leadership Blueprint
- Demonstrated experience managing the operation, maintenance and renewal of high voltage electrical assets, including substations, switchgear and distribution networks
- Experience managing contractors, suppliers and service providers, including contract performance, quality, delivery and commercial outcomes
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate and build relationships across regulators, industry partners and senior leadership teams
- Strong strategic thinking and governance capability, with the ability to balance operational priorities, risk management and long-term asset sustainability
- Demonstrated success driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, service reliability, operational efficiency and customer outcomes
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present high-quality reports,



business cases and executive-level recommendations.
