About the Hospital
Alice Springs Hospital is the major referral centre for Central Australia, serving a catchment area of over one million square kilometres.
The hospital provides care to a geographically dispersed population, with a significant proportion of patients from remote Aboriginal communities.
As an approximately 200-bed teaching hospital affiliated with Flinders University and Charles Darwin University, Alice Springs Hospital delivers a broad scope of clinical services in a regional setting, with a strong focus on general medicine, chronic disease management and remote health.
The clinical environment is complex and varied, with high-acuity presentations, significant comorbidity and a solid emphasis on culturally appropriate care. Over two-thirds of acute admissions are Aboriginal patients, making cultural awareness, communication and adaptability essential components of service delivery.
Located in the heart of Central Australia, Alice Springs offers a unique lifestyle with access to national parks, outdoor activities and a vibrant arts community. It is a welcoming and supportive environment suited to clinicians interested in making a meaningful impact in a regional and remote health setting.
