The position suits a solution-oriented engineer who can identify constraints early, develop practical options, and provide clear recommendations that balance risk, cost, standards, and operational impact.

This role will be responsible for:

- Individually or as part of a project team, plan and deliver network infrastructure sustainment and uplift projects end-to-end, including scoping, design, implementation, validation and transition to operations. Working across Bureau data communications systems including telecommunications links, network infrastructure, network management systems, voice systems, and a hybrid vendor-managed and in-house network setting.
- Implement and support changes to the Bureau’s network infrastructure across corporate, operational, remote monitoring and data centre environments,

including physical works (racking/stacking, cabling and patching) and logical configuration changes.
- Provide technical advice, options and recommendations on network designs and implementation strategies, including clear communication of risk, impact and dependencies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the broader ICT function and other business areas to align technical solutions with operational requirements.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation and implementation artefacts, and contribute to knowledge transfer and training as required.
- Participate in change and incident management processes, including incident resolution, root cause analysis and preventative improvement, applying ITIL-based ITSM practices.
- Occasional work outside of standard hours and participation in an on-call roster may be required depending on project and operational workloads.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the APS Values and Code of Conduct and a commitment to their implementation in the workplace.
- Comply with all Bureau work health and safety policies and procedures, take reasonable care for your own health and safety, and that of employees, contractors and visitors who may be affected by your conduct.

Qualifications:
- A degree or diploma of an Australian educational institution, or a comparable overseas qualification, which is appropriate to the duties; OR other comparable qualifications, which are appropriate to the duties.

Highly Desireable:
- Information Technology related qualifications including technology certifications (such a Cisco CCNP or equivalent).
- Prince2 and ITIL certifications are highly desirable.
