An expanding Victorian civil construction group with ambitious growth plans is seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to join its team. Known for reliability, efficiency and outstanding service, the business has become a first‑choice delivery partner for major contractors across the state.

With strong involvement in Victoria’s Big Build program and a growing portfolio across substations, data centres, BESS and solar/wind infrastructure, this is a key leadership appointment within a tight knit team.

Role Overview
As the Estimating Manager, you will lead the full tendering and estimating lifecycle — from first‑principle estimating and scope development through to bid strategy, risk assessment and handover to delivery teams. Working closely with senior leadership, you will ensure tenders are competitive, accurate and aligned with project requirements, while providing guidance to estimators and engineers to support a collaborative, high‑performing culture.

Key Responsibilities

- Preparing detailed, accurate tenders including first‑principle estimating, quantity take‑offs, cost analysis and scheduling
- Conducting in‑depth reviews of tender documentation and identifying alternative methodologies to improve competitiveness
- Documenting all calculations, correspondence and methodologies with precision and consistency




- Assessing project risks and opportunities, and developing clear mitigation strategies
- Leading tender review meetings with Senior Management
- Managing seamless handovers of successful bids to Project Managers and delivery teams
- Building strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to enhance pricing accuracy and market intelligence
- Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and construction plans with high technical competency
- Providing leadership, coaching and support to estimators and project engineers

Background & Experience
We are seeking a considered, detail‑driven estimating leader with:

- Robust estimating management experience within the civil construction sector.
- High proficiency in estimating software (Expert Estimation ideal)
- Excellent communication skills and confidence throughout the tender process
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or similar
- A strong industry reputation for accuracy, professionalism and commercial acumen
