The Role
As the Livestock Manager, you will assume a leadership position within a cohesive total team of seven, where you will directly supervise two staff members while working in close and seamless collaboration with dedicated personnel specifically focused on fencing infrastructure and land development projects.

Merilba Station is a family-owned and operated enterprise in the New England region, with a unique ability to harmonize traditional pastoral integrity with cutting-edge agricultural technology across a vast 11,000-hectare landscape. Spanning an impressive footprint near Kingstown that includes 3,500 acres of dedicated cropping and improved pastures, the business manages a significant livestock mix comprising 12,000 Merino, White Suffolk and composite ewes , 2,000 South Devon cattle plus followers, and a Boer goat herd, all while maintaining a primary focus on advanced AI-driven breeding practices across all three as well as sheep and cattle studs.

You will be responsible for the daily operation of the livestock enterprises including the White Suffolk terminal cross-bred lamb program. Every facet of the production cycle is optimised through rigorous, data-driven operational decisions that align with the station's unwavering commitment to superior quality and continued growth.

The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a hands-on Livestock Manager who possesses the operational foresight and leadership acumen to manage a large-scale, multi-species enterprise. You will be a proactive, strategic leader who can translate high-level breeding goals into daily reality, maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and productivity while fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement across the property.

- Proven leadership capability with a focus on team management.
- Advanced technical proficiency in livestock genetics and reproduction, specifically the application of large-scale AI programs across Merino, White Suffolk, as well as South Devon cattle and Boer goat studs.
- High-level competency in digital livestock management systems, particularly AgriWebb, with an analytical approach to data that informs day-to-day husbandry, breeding selections, and resource management.
- Extensive hands-on experience in high-welfare husbandry, rotational grazing, and pasture management, with a meticulous attention to detail that ensures the station's genetic programs reach their full potential.
