Our client seeks a skilled Mechanical Pipe Fitter to join their team in Karratha. As a Mechanical Pipe Fitter, you will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems across our operations. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that all mechanical systems operate safely and efficiently, contributing directly to the success of our projects and the safety of our workplace.
On offer is a 2 and 1 roster with an initial 6 month project
Key Capabilities
- Installing, assembling, and aligning pipe systems and components according to engineering specifications and technical drawings
- Performing maintenance and repairs on existing piping systems to ensure optimal functionality and safety compliance
- Reading and interpreting technical blueprints, schematics, and work orders to plan and execute fitting tasks
- Using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments to cut, thread, bend, and join pipes
- Testing completed piping systems for leaks, pressure integrity, and proper operation
- Collaborating with other tradespeople, engineers, and supervisors to ensure projects are completed on schedule and to specification
- Maintaining a safe work setting by adhering to all health and safety regulations and workplace procedures
- Identifying and troubleshooting issues with piping systems and implementing corrective solutions
- Keeping accurate records of work completed and materials used on each project
What you will bring:
- Current Trade Certificate in Mechanical Fitting or equivalent qualification recognised in Western Australia
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Pipe Fitter or in a similar pipe fitting role within the trades and services industry
- Strong understanding of piping systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical principles
- Proficiency with hand tools,
power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring devices
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work specifications accurately
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards, codes of practice, and workplace health and safety regulations
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail to ensure high-quality workmanship
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities to work effectively with colleagues and supervisors
- Physical fitness and ability to work in varied environmental conditions, including outdoor and confined spaces
- A valid driver's licence is desirable for travelling to different work sites
- Willingness to undertake further training and professional development as required
- Rio Tinto Iron Ore Essentials/Perth Regional Hub Essentials
- Rio Tinto Lock-holders
- Rio Tinto Personal Isolation
- Rio Tinto SW Supervised Worker (Desirable).
- Demonstrate First Attack Firefighting Equipment
- Current HLTAID003 Provide First Aid certificate
- Current HLTAID001 Provide Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certificate (within previous 12 months).
- EWP and High Risk Qualifications (Desirable).
