About E C Throsby
E C Throsby is a proud, family-owned Australian business and a leader in export beef processing, specialising in cows and bulls. Our unique hot boning process sets us apart, and with quality and safety at the core of everything we do, our first-class facilities at Whittingham and Young supply markets around the world.
About the role
Reporting to the Group Manager – Quality Assurance, you'll take ownership of the site's quality assurance, compliance and food safety within a highly regulated export environment.
You'll keep our quality systems, Approved Arrangements, customer standards and regulatory requirements at the highest standard - ensuring the site is compliant and audit-ready every day — while leading and developing a dedicated QA team.
What you'll do
- Maintain and continuously improve quality systems, Approved Arrangements and food safety culture
- Lead internal, regulatory (DAFF) and customer audits, and drive site-wide audit readiness
- Own the CAPA process — investigate non-conformances and deliver sustainable, systemic close-out
- Run verification activities, traceability exercises and mock recalls
- Oversee document control and record integrity, including regulatory notifications
- Lead the QA team through pre-operational, hygiene and process verification
- Act as the site Animal Welfare Officer (AMIC compliance)
About you
- A qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Agricultural Science or Quality Management (or equivalent experience)
- QA, food safety or compliance experience within food manufacturing or export processing
- Sound HACCP knowledge and audit experience (internal, external or regulatory)
- Strengths in investigations, corrective actions and non-conformance management
- Formal or informal team leadership experience
Beef, export-meat or DAFF/Approved Arrangements experience is highly regarded but not essential. Full training and mentoring will be provided, so this is also a great step up for a robust QA professional moving into the export space.
What's on offer
- Generous salary, commensurate with experience
- Relocation assistance and accommodation support
- Potential visa sponsorship for an exceptional candidate
- Structured training, mentoring and genuine career growth
- The Hunter Valley lifestyle — wine country, space and an easier pace, within reach of Newcastle and Sydney
