About the Role
As a Casual Learn to Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality swimming lessons to participants across a variety of skill levels and age groups. You will play a key role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and encouraging aquatic environment that promotes confidence, water safety awareness, and the development of essential swimming skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and structured swimming lessons in accordance with recognised learn-to-swim programs and curriculum frameworks
- Instruct swimmers across all age groups and ability levels, from infants and young children through to adults
- Monitor and assess participant progress, providing constructive feedback and adjusting lesson plans to meet individual learning needs
- Maintain a safe and supervised aquatic environment at all times, adhering to all relevant health, safety, and facility guidelines
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents, guardians, and participants regarding progress, goals, and any concerns
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, stored, and utilised in a safe and appropriate manner
- Actively contribute to a positive and supportive team culture within the aquatic department
- Comply with all organisational policies, procedures,
and relevant legislative requirements
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as a swimming instructor or in a similar aquatic teaching role is highly desirable
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate participants of all ages
- A genuine passion for water safety, swimming, and community health and wellbeing
- Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles and abilities
- Reliable, punctual, and professional in all aspects of work
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Qualifications and Certifications
- Current and recognised Swimming and Water Safety Teaching qualification (or equivalent)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Current Working with Children Check (or equivalent screening relevant to your state or territory)
- Bronze Medallion or equivalent lifesaving qualification (desirable but not essential)
