The Senior Ranger South Burnett leads & coordinates operations across the two work units of Bunya Mountains & Kingaroy encompassing a diverse portfolio of protected areas & state forests. This management area includes high-visitation national parks renowned for their natural values, biodiversity, & cultural heritage, alongside extensive state forests that support a range of recreational opportunities.
The successful applicant will oversee park management programs, prepare correspondence such as briefing notes, report on programs & budgets, & oversee the preparation and management of contracts.
Excellent communication & team skills are a requirement of this position, including the ability to liaise with internal & external clients including First Nations groups, to ensure operational programs are successfully implemented.

The Ideal Candidate
- Displays a keen interest in protected area management, conservation and natural resource management.
- Demonstrates strong leadership, contributing to plan,
prioritise and manage multiple programs and competing tasks with precision across large or dispersed areas.
- Builds and maintains effective relationships, with the ability to support, supervise and share skills with a diverse group of people.
- Acts with integrity and professionalism, with an understanding of relevant legislation, policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Communicates clearly and effectively, tailoring messaging to suit audiences and managing stakeholder expectations.
- Demonstrates sound knowledge of workplace health and safety, compliance, emergency response, and business management processes (HR, financial and reporting).
- Supports and promotes a culture of safety, equity, diversity, respect and inclusion
