Senior Ranger FULL TIME PLANNING, DEVELOPMENT AND ENVIRONMENT

About this opportunity

This position is required to provide operational leadership of the rangers within the Regulatory Services team to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of pest, animal management, community, and environmental services, and to ensure community compliance with relevant legislation, local laws and Council policies. The position incumbent will provide high level advice to management and the rangers in relation to local laws and state legislation matters.

The position is based in Beaudesert, but you may be required to work from any of Council’s offices (Boonah and Tamborine Mountain) or facilities within the Scenic Rim.

Additionally, you’ll also …

- Provide expert advice and leadership to the rangers within the team, including coaching, development, training, and performance management.




- Produce high quality reports and correspondence to internal and external clients relating to animal control, overgrown allotments and other regulatory matters.
- Ascertain and determine if and when a breach of Council-enforced legislation has occurred and respond appropriately to observed and reported breaches by issuing infringement notices or taking other relevant action.
- Manage Council's impounding facilities in accordance with the relevant legislation.

About you…

- Tertiary qualifications, such as a Certificate IV in Local Government Investigations or an equivalent qualification, and demonstratable experience gained through multiple appointments.
- Substantial experience performing work within an animal management and pest occupation, including animal husbandry, animal behavior, animal control, kennel operations, disease transmission and animal hygiene.
- Ability to supervise the tasks and activities of the rangers within the team and develop their skills in the performance of their duties, ensuring that they operate in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Specialist skills in assessing and determining animal behaviour and responding appropriately.




- Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and practices.
