OVERVIEW
OURNESS is a globally award-winning independent music label and management company.
Specialising in artist development and building a legacy-inspired culture for our roster, we are expanding our team and looking for a Senior Social Media Manager.
The Senior Social Media Manager will lead social strategy and execution for our artists and expanding roster, spanning major world headline tours, album releases, and festivals. This is a hands-on, in-house role for someone who lives online, understands artist-fan culture at a granular level, and can move at the speed real-time moments demand (festival weekends, viral moments, breaking news, meme cycles).
This role is suited to someone whose full time craft is social, rather than a generalist marketer who "also does social." You would be someone who has experienced high-profile artist projects and understands why those campaigns worked: the aesthetic discipline, the trend fluency, the community instinct, and the willingness to move fast.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own end-to-end social strategy and content calendars across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube (Shorts + long-form), aligned to the wider campaign and touring schedule
- Lead real-time content capture and posting at festivals, tour stops, and press moments, including weekends on the ground at major events
- Develop and execute influencer/creator seeding strategy in partnership with agencies and label partners
- Manage the creators and content producers working on each campaign, including briefing them clearly, managing deadlines,
and ensuring every deliverable lands and meets the artist cultural aesthetic.
- Translate visual identity and single/album rollout concepts into scroll-stopping short-form content
- Monitor trends, sounds, and formats daily and adapt them for each artist's voice, and work autonomously by proactively pitching timely content
- Manage community and fan sentiment across platforms and Reddit/fan forums
- Track platform analytics (reach, saves, completion rate, follower quality) and produce weekly social reporting to provide clear, data-driven insights and recommendations with a bias toward action over vanity metrics
- Extend social support across the wider label roster, balancing priorities across multiple active campaigns
- Work closely with the label's creative department, and management team.
TOOLS & TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Platforms: Instagram (Reels, Notes, Broadcast Channels), TikTok, YouTube Shorts, X, Reddit
- Editing: CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom
- Scheduling / Workflow: Meta Business Suite, Later or Sprout Social, Notion or Asana
- Artist Analytics: Spotify for Artists, Chartmetric or Soundcharts, TikTok Creative Center, platform-native Insights
- Community / Listening: Native platform analytics,
social listening for sentiment and fan-forum monitoring
- Design Support: Canva (rapid-turn assets), basic motion graphics
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- 4+ years' experience in a similar senior social media role in music, with proven results: not just performance metrics, but execution of a strong, distinct artist aesthetic
- A demonstrable track record of campaigns that moved culture, not just impressions. You can point to specific posts/moments and explain why they worked
- Deep, current fluency in music/internet culture: you already know this week's sounds, formats, and discourse without being told
- Comfortable working autonomously across time zones in a founder-led, growing independent business, and travelling for festivals/tour dates as needed
- A calm head under real-time pressure during press moments, viral spikes, and fast turnarounds
- You will be an ideas enthusiast and willing to come up with big picture and bold concepts and be able to execute.
- Genuine collaborative instinct. This role sits close to the founders and management team, and judgment matters as much as output
- An existing network of trusted creators, videographers, editors, and content producers you can call on and manage directly. This role is expected to bring relationships, not build them from scratch
- Based in Los Angeles or Sydney, or willing to relocate
